Your child should Read at Home (RAH) as a regular

part of homework.
Reading: Reading strategies, Characters and their
feelings, Character Traits.
Writing: Realistic Fiction: Using everything we know
to write engaging stories.
Math: Addition, Subtraction, Counting by Making 10
First, Adding Two-Digits to One Digit, and Comparing
Numbers
First Grade students are expected to master addition
and subtraction facts through 10. Beginning the week
of October 20, we will be giving timed facts tests on
Tuesdays and Thursdays. There will be 12 problems
and your child will have one minute to complete. Once
your child has mastered all 12 problems in one minute,
he or she will move up.
Science/Social Studies: Using Maps, Continents,
Oceans.
