This is a style of music video which would show
primarily live performances by the artist It gives the
idea that the artist are raw talented and energetic this
would link to the technique called allusion which is used
to suggest the best points of the artist , as live music
videos are used to promote the artists live
performances

People were incited by

the idea of Kanye
performing a live song
at a prestige music
award event dressed
as stereo typical
youth gang members
so he used this
demand to use the
performance as his
music video to allow
viewers to see the
actual performance.

The example I have chosen is

seen as an as live example as
the music video displays a live
performance of the song by
this artist

This was used to promote the song as it

had already made a large impact on the
media scene

Animation
Animation is used a style for music videos as it allows
the artist to create a cheaper video which promotes the
uniqueness of the artist due to animation being able to
show almost anything
Kanye west has a numerous amount of animation music
videos which promote his artistic side.

think of himself as the leading artist
of our generations time so he used
this music video to display how
unique his imagination is displaying
the world as a world controlled by
annimals

Interpretative
Interpretive music videos can relate to the lyrics of a
song however can be perceived in a numerous amount
of ways causing confusion between those who watch
the video

offence to historians condemning the major
colonies and races known for enslaving people on
a large scale , they also continue to link this to
modern society criticising the police, leading
scientist and politicians

follow a storyline this can be either
Illustrative - the story line relates to the lyrics
Amplifying the storyline can be linked to repeated

Disjuncture no link between the storyline and song

to the storyline displayed in the video , it
almost gives a narration of the video
allowing the viewer to understand what's
going on

Impressionist music videos are videos which leave the
viewers confused about what they are being shown ,
this can feature bold statements which have several
meanings which usually cause controversy and mixed
opinions on the video .
They try to not link the lyrics to the music video causing
more confusion

offence to many as they believed it

Surreal adverts link to a artistic impression of a music
video linking to distortion and illusion with mixed
messages given off they usually display the talent of the
producer but help to promote the artist as it would be so
unique.
They dont normally link to everyday life but instead
display fantasies and dreams

A pastiche is the producer attempting to use a unique
style used by another artists in a music video , it is used
to respect the copied artist avoiding any mockery to
their work

Cutting to the beat is self explanatory an it is simply a
technique which involves a quick changes between
shots in time to the beat of the song

Effects
Now days most music videos involve special effects, this
is a great way to be creative and have an original look
to it. Giving you more of an opportunity to have more
control over what is seen by the public, this may be
done by green screen or CGI.

effects music video. This grabs the attention of
the audience more because the video is very
vibrant and different.

Miming and Lip singing

This is where the vocals are pre recorded and added to
the music video after production. This is in
synchronization to the speed of the singing to look as
realistic as possible. Lip sync is the allusions that the
vocals are in slow motion, but the lip syncing is still in
time with the right speed of the music.

Multi-mage
This is the use of different shots merging together on
the same screen. This is an editing technique that
shows different things happening at the same time.
Changing position, timing and size of the video to
manipulate the audience and give them more of a story
to watch.

Camera movement is used to set the scene for a music

video displaying the footage in an exciting way ,
tracking the artist or main actor I a common camera
movement in music videos to highlight them, the usage
of a panning shot would be used to show the
surroundings a close up could be used to express their
emotions

Angles are seen as being similar to camera movement as
specific ones fit certain music videos such as a bird eye
view may be used for a as live music video to show the
size of the croud
