February 16, 2010 Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order by Bryan Ball at 7:08 PM.

Bryan Ball noted that although the Treasurer’s Report had been specifically requested it
was not available.

The minutes from the January meeting are distributed and read. Bruce Kogan motions,
Cory Promowicz seconds, the minutes are accepted.

The NYS Senate’s 58th District candidates begin their interviews with the membership:
• Michael Kuzma – current attorney – offered to co-sponsor all relevant legislation as it
has already been introduced, support marriage equality and will not advertise on
politicswny.com
• Tim Kennedy – current member Erie County Legislature – supports marriage
equality, is pro life, will continue to advertise on politicswny.com
• Sean Cooney – current attorney – supports marriage equality and all relevant
legislation and will not advertise on politicswny.com

Voting rights are reviewed, 35 members present, discussion of candidates follows.

Wendy Smiley motions, Madeline Davis seconds, Sean Cooney is unanimously endorsed
by the SDWNY.

The Dignity for All Students bill was discussed.

School Board elections are coming up with 6 seats available. Questionnaires to be sent
out and interviews to be scheduled for the March meeting. Kitty Lambert and Bryan Ball
are looking for members to join a committee to educate ourselves on school issues.

It is mentioned that Curtis Haynes is the new Ellicott District Common Council member.

Whitney Crispell talks about the Domestic Partnership Law that was before the Buffalo
Common Council – they have asked for more information regarding the economic impact
on the city.
