Wash your hands the first step in preventing food contamination

Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and hot water before handling food
and after handling raw meat, poultry, seafood and eggs. As well as any
other location where bacteria may be present.
Avoid the DANGER ZONE
Bacteria multiply fastest in whats called the Danger Zone between 4C
and 60C (this would include room temperatures).
The Two Hour Rule
Food should never be kept out of the oven or refrigerator for longer than 2
hours. After two hours, food will enter the Danger Zone.
Wash Serving Dishes and Utensils
Make sure to wash all dishes, utensils and any other cooking equipment in
hot soapy water. The water must be hot enough to kill bacteria.
Buyer be aware!
Examine food and its packaging at the store and again when you are ready
to use it. Avoid swollen or leaking cans or damaged packaging they may
expose the contents to bacteria.
Store it right
Keep the refrigerator at 4C or less and the freezer at -18C or less.
When in doubt, throw it out!
Look for mold growth, discolouration, unusual smells, feel or texture.
