Jo Kern (1959) studied Applied Physics at the University of Eindhoven and joint DSM in
1985. During his carreer he worked in a whole range of different business/service units of
DSM in all kind of jobs from processdevelopment, engineering and projectmanagement. In
2002 he became Maintenance Manager at DSM Specialty Intermediates, where a.o. he was
responsible for definition and implementation of a new Turnaround Strategy for the plants
of this Business Unit. At the start of the DSM Manufacturing Center in 2005 he was
appointed Senior Turnaround Manager. In this position he became responsible for
managing Turnarounds at the Geleen site and development/implementation of best
practises about Turnaround-management. Januari 2009 the DSM Manufacturing Centre was
transformed into Sitech Manufacturing Services, anticipating the outcome of a DSM
divestment programme at the Geleen site.
