We fall in love with a preconceived ideal
We attribute our ideal characteristics to the loved one, whether or not the person actually has them
After we fall in love, we idealize the characteristics of the loved one, and this becomes the basis for our ideal

Power Within Relationships


-Who has the most power in a relationship? The one who is least invested.
Wallers Theory of Least Interest = They can treat you negatively, but you are invested more in them. So they
have the power.
Ending Relationships
-The two most common reasons given for a breakup:
Jealousy
Excessive Dependency = you become the focus of their life. The person loses all their friends and focuses on
you.
