HONORABLE CITIZEN
WHY IS THIS AN IMPORTANT TRAIT?
Being an honorable citizen is an important trait because it ultimately defines your moral and
social standards. Tolerance and respect are prominent aspects that fall under being an honorable
citizen. They are positive characteristics that carry on in our future environments and deal with
our behaviors towards others. It is extremely important to achieve this trait because we will
always encounter diversity within our educational career. In those times, we should learn to
embrace and respect others as they would respect us.

HOW DO YOU DEMONSTRATE THIS TRAIT IN YOUR DAILY LIFE?

As an honorable citizen, I choose to value each individual I meet by their character. Every
opportunity I come across that involves meeting people of different backgrounds, such as joining
different clubs, allows me to accept them for who they are and discover new ideas. By having
tolerance for others I have been able to meet and learn about incredible people. The more I
embrace diversity, the more my character improves.

HOW DOES THE SAMPLE YOUVE PROVIDED SHOW THAT YOU

ACTIVELY DEMONSTRATE THIS TRAIT?
The sample I provided of a SAM Academy Volunteer Shirt and an Upward Bound Summer
Program Certificate demonstrates my time working as a volunteer through the Upward Bound
Program. At SAM Academy, I volunteered as an assistant working with various tinkering items
to put together for the students of their engineering classes. This experience allowed me to meet
the main employees and work alongside them to accomplish the many tasks we had throughout
the summer. I also had to interact with the students, which further improved my trait as an
honorable citizen. The certificate represents my completion in the summer volunteer work.
