PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

I see myself as a well-motivated and approachable person having strong core beliefs remaining
consistent throughout my life. I see value in others and try to always view situations in a positive
light. I accept new challenges but am wary and conscious of failure. I have a background in the
outdoor and adventure and urban sport field and within my recent direction through university
show a pattern of connection between my background and development in work. The style of
sport I am involved in shows an accurate picture of my working style. Although I don’t regularly
partake in team sports my sports connect me with others into a network and creates an
atmosphere with connected passions also offering advice in techniques, performance and
improvement etc. I am a unique individual in many aspects but generally resonate with my
choice of approaching university later on in my life generally older than most of my fellow peers.
I took the time to discover how I would like to progress within my study doing so by heading
into a range of working fields for a number of years to understand things that interest me whilst
learning a wide range of excellent life competencies. These competencies I feel have been
transferred into my next study career offering alternative perspectives and life experiences my
peers have not yet developed.

Aforementioned I see the potential of others in my environment, although I have other

experiences, I stay firm in the belief that others can offer a great deal of benefit and leaning
opportunities. I have lived and worked in 3 different countries now and find it fantastic to meet
and work with different cultures than my own. I position myself around others different to myself
not only to create a more interesting environment but to gain alternative perspectives
sometimes being far away from my own. Like all I have my own personal strengths and
weakness, qualities and characteristics which have a direct correlation with each other. A
personal quality of mine is having the ability to engage with others in my environment, respect,
listen, empathize, offer assistance and make all feel welcome. I see value in others, and which
gives me strength to make others feel valuable. On the other hand, I feel that I could be more
transparent in my communication skills. Sometimes I should be more assertive in my stance in
situations and/or group work. In addition, having the ability to state when I am struggling without
feeling the risk of failure. I also aim to improve the ability to assert myself and understand the
value I bring to not only my professional environment but also personally. I have an innovative
mind with great motivation to create originality within my work. I enjoy being creative which can
be seen within the work I produced at different levels. The work I produce aims to stand out
from the crowd which can sometimes draw upon un-needed self-pressure. A recent inspiration
through the recent period of my life has established a passion to relate my passion and the
energy I am given through innovation to help ideate, design and create community projects with
an aim to grow and strengthen individuals through the community they live in creating a more
vital environment for the future.

I am motivated to gain new experiences and develop a broadened knowledge and background
to build into my professional development which is an ongoing and ever changing process. The
most recent internship has given an insight into the working field of a non-governmental
organisation working in an office based environment. I worked as their social media and online
marketing officer and as a result of this experience I have been given the positive reminder that
this area is potentially suitable to my core ambitions as a professional. I although was given the
opportunity to work in a self-managed environment learning how to independently work and
design my internship product. I believe now strongly that the next internship placement should
resonate with my core beliefs to give me the energy and motivation to work.

I stand for helping the greater world using my positive and creative atmosphere to change and
influence and make a difference to others. I stand by equality, openness and a sustainability
and offering a trustful nature to others. I used to have a much lower personal knowledge of
myself worth which recently has been clarified to me by my peers, friends, family and
employers. The recent work within an office has helped me understand that don’t necessarily
enjoy working in an officed based environment and that I would probably like to be out in the
communities. I also feel that with an entrepreneurship mind setting I would like to work on
establishing my own business to my goals and ambitions.
