 What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product?
There are 3 pieces of technology, the SLR cameras, Photoshop
and Quark. The SLR camera was particularly difficult to use, especially
without a tripod. All the photos I took including the test shots were
taken using an SLR camera and so all the photos used on my
magazine projects as well as my preliminary task were taken with an
SLR camera as the picture quality was better although it was difficult to
get used to using in comparison to small digital and disposable
cameras used in everyday life. We used a compact camera to film
some of the photo sessions which are on my YouTube account. As
you can see it was difficult to angle
the camera for filming as
the technology was completely
new to me. The video itself is
also of a poor quality in
contrast to the photographs
taken by the SLR cameras.
Photoshop was quite easy to learn how to use although I
Mostly used it for photo manipulation and used Quark to
create layouts for each page. I used both on my preliminary
task and feel that from the initial tutorials and college
magazine my Photoshop and Quark
skills have vastly improved from the
basics to something slightly more
advanced Quark was far easier to
use as the tools are very basic as
I only used it for layouts, typing and
inserting images whereas photo
manipulation was more difficult
as there was a wider variety of tools
which were more complex in contrast
to the basics of Quark.
 Here are some the improvements I feel I have made from the
production of my college magazine TRCREATIVE and during the
production of my classic rock magazine Lead Balloon.

The title has improve

between TRCREATIVE
and Lead Balloon as I
have used a cutting tool
to get rid of the banner
behind the Lead Balloon
title whereas I made the
college magazine title
with a simple font and
cut and paste. The rest
of the text is slightly
more advanced as there
is a wider variation of
fonts. The front cover of
Lead Balloon has clearly
been manipulated more
than the college
magazine.
 After creating these products and during
these evaluations I have learnt to use
Windows Movie Maker, which is quite a
simple form of video creation but slightly
more complex than the very basic compact
camera filming as Windows Movie Maker
required me to use effects as well as time
music with the video.
