Ruta 66 Magazine Cover

Analysis
The masthead is in
the style of the
Route 66 road sign
because Route 66
is referred to in
Classic Rock songs.
This makes it clear
what music the
magazine
specialises in and
who it’s target
audience is; Classic
rock fans.
The masthead is covered
slightly by the main picture
directing the focus to the main
content of the magazine.
The cover lines display the
other features within the
magazine. Unlike Kerrang!
The cover lines are not
anchored with pull quotes,
they just have short
descriptions of each article.
This shows a clear
difference in the age of the
target audiences as the
Kerrang has quotes which
are very blunt and
irreverent, something which
appeals to a younger
generation whereas Ruta
66 appears much more
relaxed because instead of
pull quotes there are short
descriptions of the articles
based around each band/
