Building and Grounds-Indoor and outdoor premises shall be free of hazards. Stairs,
walks and ramps will be maintained and safe, free of water, ice, snow or debris. Fire
extinguishers will on premises and inspected yearly. Fire alarms and smoke
detectors will be in working order and used to conduct monthly drills. Fire alarms
and smoke detectors will be tested and the result recorded weekly. All exit lights
will be lit at all times. A tornado plan of evacuation will be posted and tested
monthly during tornado season.
Outdoor equipment shall be scaled to developmental level, size and ability of
child. Structures will be safe with appropriate energy-absorbing material needed.
Playgrounds will be fenced in with child-proof locking mechanism.
We will be implanting key fobs for added security during this project.
Our center recently completed our public schools lock down program. We will
implement the A.L.I.C.E. protocol; Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate.
Purchasing While working with a contractor, I will be involved with choosing
energy efficient materials. The choice of materials must also be pleasing to the eye
as well as economical. Color and texture must also be taken into consideration.
When purchasing furniture, supplies and equipment, all must be appropriate and
within the expectations of Creative Curriculum of our school district. 1
