Juan Martinez, Battery Manager

Merced High School
205 West Olive Ave.
Merced, CA 95344
Dear Mr. Martinez,
As a tenor drummer who has had many years of experience, I would like to apply for the job as a
tenor drum technician with the Merced High School Percussion Ensemble. My experience in the
field of indoor drumming along with the education I am receiving in my attempts to become
more knowledgeable in the future will aid me in teaching the techniques and lessons required for
the position as a battery technician of this specific drum.
Teaching the techniques and quirks specific and detailed only to the tenor drums has always been
something that I have greatly appreciated from my past instructors and have paid great attention
to, and I would like to continue to pass on this knowledge that was shared with me. All
Percussion Scholastic divisions are extremely competitive divisions and I would be privileged to
be able to give aid to the tenor drummers of my very own alma mater in order to give them that
edge that will push their abilities to their maximum potential.
It is in my plans to receive my degree in Biology at University of California Merced. After doing
so I would like to go into medical school, while at the same time being a percussion instructor at
the high school at which I teach. Working with your ensemble would be a great chance for me to
enhance my teaching abilities as well as perhaps learn more, while at the same time keeping me
connected to the percussive arts as I also wish to continue marching but now in the independent
groups.
I am looking forward to speaking with you very much in regards to the possibility of me
contributing to the success of your ensemble. You can reach me by phone at (209) 383-9128, or
by email at miguelrojasflores@yahoo.com.
Sincerely,
Miguel Rojas-Flores
