3- Sand Filters Backwash

- Air blower shall start for 2 minutes.
- Backwash Pump shall start while the air blower is running for 8 minutes.
- Air blower shall stop and backwash pump shall work alone for 6 minutes.
- After backwash, water level shall be lowered until it reach 10-20 cm above media.
- Backwash water shall be directed to sludge holding tank.
- Sludge holding tank pumps will operate to dispose sludge to a point determined
by the owner.
- No sludge shall be directed to the raw water tank since it will contaminate the raw
water, and media cleaning shall not be achieved ever.
