Santiago is the capital of Chile, located in the Metropolitan
region. Santiago is a big and modern city so the population is very technological. There are a lot of places to have fun; for example: Parks, malls, theatres, pools, and even amusement parks, like Fantasilandia. Santiago has many places for tourists, such as La Moneda's palace and many other historical sites. You can find many kinds of food such as meats (beef and chicken), rice, potatoes, wine, but their specialties are: pastel de choclo (corn casserole with meat stuffing), empanadas (meat-, fish- or cheese-filled pastry), cazuela (stew), asados (roast meats), centolla (king crab), and fish. Santiagos climate is Mediterranean. The winters are cold and rainy, but the summers are hot and dry. Moreover, autumns and springs are varied. The people are very friendly and lovely (with some exceptions). The best way to get around the city is via Transantiago and Metro. First off, buy a "bip!-card". You can then recharge it in metro stations and the card is valid for both the metro and bus systems, even permitting free transfers from one mode of transportation to the other.
