Objectives Board for the Volunteer House

Objective
The objective this month was to design and create an Objective Board in order to present
and track this years objectives of GVIs Mexico Community Projects to volunteers and staff
in the house.
Summary
This month two of the GVI scholars at the Mexico Community Projects designed and created
an Objective Board for the community volunteer house.
Report
The objectives board
was based on the previously
established
long-term, mid-term
and short-term objectives for the community projects here in
Playa del Carmen. The
objectives were simplified and grouped
into sections in order
for them all to fit onto
the board, and to be
easier to read and
understand.
The objectives were
split through the year
in different quarters. This is to help the volunteers and staff see what is to be achieved by
them as a team within each quarter of the year, as well as allow for a quarterly review and
tracking of the objectives.

A large white bed sheet was reused to present the Objective Board on. Once the planning of
how the Objective Board would be presented was finished, the bed sheet was measured in
order to work out what the dimensions of each quarter would be and how big the objectives
that would be displayed.

The objectives were typed up and printed onto brightly coloured paper in order to make the
board more attractive and eye catching. These were then stuck onto the bed sheet in the
appropriate order. There are spaces left next to each objective for photos and results to be
stuck on the sheet once each objective has been completed. This will hopefully encourage
all the objectives to be completed and allow for appropriate review, due to seeing the outcomes of the previously completed objectives.
The Objective Board has been put up on the main wall in the living area in the volunteer
house in Playa del Carmen. This makes it visible to all the volunteers and staff, making them
aware of what they all have to achieve together as a team in the Mexico community projects.
