Storytelling Lesson Plan: Lesson Design by Kristie Sommerfeld & Megan Slight
two important reading strategies for kindergarten sequencing and rhyming. The
important lessons can be presented through movement and singing.
Objectives:
1. Students will learn sequence of animals eaten through the story.
2. Students will recognize rhyming and pick out rhyming words.
3. Students will act out their given character as they make their way to the old
ladys stomach.
Materials:
Activities/Procedures:
Have students draw pins so they know which character they will be
Teach the part of the book that will be sung
There was an old lady who swallowed a fly, I dont know why she
swallowed the fly, perhaps shell die
Explain the activity
Students take on their character, and they have to move like that
character into the Old Ladys stomach
Read story and use apron to help students follow along
