Dear Professor Wickliff,

As I come to the conclusion of Project A I am reflecting on the process that weve

undergone as individuals and as a class. Because writing is an intricate process, the
editing that ties in with it is only more involved. When I first edited the first version
of the chapter it was almost hard to keep up given that the next week we were
given a very different version (Ch.IIA). Not only did I want to give resourceful editing
remarks, I also wanted to stay as loyal to the authors intended message without
reconfiguring too much of the content. At times I sought the grammar to be focus,
while other times I wanted to direct my attention towards the formatting and
structuring of the chapter.
Overall, my goals for the edited version are fitting for the audience, the instructor,
and for myself. I found myself reading the chapters as if I were in audiences
positions and seeing how it would be most effective for them. I feel that I
commented plenty on the structuring and the transitions, which (for me) is an
essential part of making any document flow smoothly and coherently. Other than
that, I feel that I have successfully composed a variety of editing remarks that will
please my instructor. By thoroughly and consistently editing the documents I
pinpointed several mistakes that I may not have initially noticed. The peer edit our
instructor assigned helped me, once again, look over the document with
confirmation on what suggestions we should convey to the authors (which only
strengthened the edited version).
As with any edit, I feel that one can encounter a variety of problems (which I did). It
was difficult to get used to editing digitally since I tend to be a very hands on
person. Additionally, came the difficulty of realizing what information was important
enough to note to the author (or to the instructor) and what was not. Also, there
were several questions in the process; some that were answered and some still
have not been. For instance, deadlines, purpose, audience, major changes in
drafted versions, focus of comments and editing remarks, etc. I learned to ask
questions and seek help from my peers.
Changes that I can see making in my portfolio version of this work would consist of,
reviewing the document again, find any missed errors, correct them accordingly,
while also finding a way to enhance the readers experience as a whole.
Thanks for your time!
