I have known Vanessa for the past seven months and I have been very impressed with a number of her qualities. Vanessa is currently a student in my AP Language and Composition course. This course is incredibly rigorous and requires students to transcend the normal high school English course through critical thinking and intrinsic motivation. Vanessa demonstrates the ability to excel in this simulated college environment. She is paramount in helping create a learning environment that encourages students to pose questions and identify solutions through discussion and collaboration, My course built on discussion and engaging with students through discourse. Vanessa has the ability to validate and empathize with her fellow peers. She genuinely cares about their opinions and was attentive to their opinions and ideas. This allowed a learning community to be fostered and promoted. My class benefits greatly from Vanessa’s presence in it.I believe she plays an integral part in making the class ‘meaningful for the students around her and for me as a teacher. The ability to interact with her peers will serve Vanessa well as she continues her educational journey into college. In addition to being an integral part of the classroom learning environment, Vanessa is heavil involved in influencing the climate of school culture through her involvement in a number of activities that are present on the Buhach Colony campus. Vanessa is heavily involved with AVID and she is a crucial member of the volleyball team. In addition to her stellar involvement in the creation of school culture, Vanessa also challenges herself through enrollment in a number of Advanced Placement courses. Vanessa is not a passive student. She is involved in making Buhach Colony a place that faculty and students genuinely enjoy attending. She is an integral part of the school and I believe that any institution that has the privilege of Ms. Andrade attending will be stronger for her presence. Vanessa has demonstrated, unequivocally, the ability to be successful in whatever she elects to pursue. Any institution would be extremely lucky to be able to identify Ms. Andrade as a member of their student body. With that being said, your institution would be hard pressed to find a more deserving candidate for your financial support than Vanessa Andrade.
