ACTIVITY - SHOPPING PROJECT

STEPS

EXPLANATION

1 - INTRODUCTION

In this first step the teacher is going to introduce the basical

things to students, for that, he or she should start by describing
what is a shop and what are their most simple elements.

1.1 - EXPLAIN WHAT IS A SHOP

First of all we are going to describe what is a shop. We have to

provide them a definition according to their understanding level,
likewise we can start asking them for definitions so we can get
an idea about what they really know. In addition the definition
could be; a shop is a place where you can buy things with
money.

1.2 - ELEMENTS

In this part we are going to tell the students about four things
that the shops usually have and that they have to include on
their proposal. The things could be; products, shelves, shop
assistant and so on. For showing these things we are going to
use a "Thinglink" picture made by ourselves where they can find
the elements of the shop.

2 - THE PROJECT STARTS

After been talking about the shops in general terms we are going
to focus little by little on their own preferences and individual
ideas about what kind of shop they would run.

2.1 - PREFERENCES OF THE STUDENT

In order to start working with their individual shops, first of all we

are going to ask them about their preferences for guide them
about what they could build. Concretely the idea is working with
a brain-storm of ideas from the kids by asking them, e.g. we can
say; "When you are shopping what are the shops that you like
the most? And what about the candy shops, do you like
that?" [...]

2.2 - NAME OF THE SHOP

Here we are going to say that they have to think about a name
for their shop, but the main idea is been still working with a
brain-storming of ideas, so they are going to say their thinkings
at loud voice.

2.3 - SLOGAN OF THE SHOP

On this task we have to work with the student creativity, for that
we are going to foster the rhyme by creating and slogan. For
example; "A cat in the hat", "There's a dog in the shop-door".

2.4 - NEEDINGS OF THE SHOP

The idea in this step is that the student thinks about what kind of
things he or she would need in order to make the shop, for
example if their are going to sell a lot of toys they should know if
they need one or more assitant shops, a wall full of shelves or
only few of them [...]

3 - PROPOSAL ACTIVITY (POSTER)

This is the third part of our activity, now we are going to ask them
about a short writing and design, like a poster, where they have
to include different things that we are going to explain in the next
steps.

3.1 - GUIDE STUDENTS

First of all we write on the board some questions that should

appear asked on their proposals, they can be for example; What
is the name/ slogan/ products sold/ kind of shop... With this little
guide we want to foster their creativity.
We let them a guide examples of question to answer in their
report:
Name the shop and a slogan
Products
What they want to do
Their dreams (We will foster this point CREATIVITY)

3.2 - MAKING THE POSTER

They have to create a Canva design where all the previous

things are going to be showed with text and also with some
pictures. The main idea here is that the student can share their
proposal with the others mates as well as it is a good moment to
evaluate their writing abilities by the teacher. The intention of
sharing is to avoid that everyone use the same products, names
or slogans.

3.3 - LOOKING FOR PICTURES

Now they are going to use Google Images (we explain how to
use it) where they look up for their specific products. For
example in case of sports-shop, they look up for, rackets, balls,
baskets,...These images would be saved for the next activity.

4 - 3D SHOP BUILDING ACTIVITY

Through this fourth part of the activity students have to build a

very simple 3D structure of their shop by using a specific tool
that we are going to provide them, with this exercise they are
free to be creative, as well as it is really good to spark their
motivation.

5 - PRESENTATION CREATION

EXPLANATION

TIME

In this task the student is going to create a presentation of their

own shop created by using the pictures previously searched and
saved. In the presentation they have to show to the rest of the
class his or her work.
Teacher guide them to follow instructions:
Personal introduction about the activity:
Name the shop
Products
Include the 3D design
Why customers may like to buy in this shop (when someone
want to go to Pluto would like fly in good spacecraft)
Slogan.

5.1 - PRESENTATION GUIDE

The first step of this activity is explain to the children what we

want from them, for that we should say that they have to do a
presentation by using one tool that we would provide (Google
Presentations) where they have to show their shop-projects,
which means that all the relative information about their shop
should been showed there, some features could be; Personal
introduction about the activity, name of the shop, slogan of the
shop, products and why people would go to the shop. It can be
understanded as a little sum up of the previous exercise.

5.2 - PRESENTATION TIME

After making the presentation the students would save their work
and show it to the rest of the class with a five minutes time
limitation.

He can understand concepts with visual and oral explanation.
He understands the projects of their classmates written in their
posters.
He knows about shops-vocabulary after the activity.
He makes visual presentations of a topic, showing his speaking
ability.
7 - EVALUATION

The basic elements that must be in the final presentation are;

Name the shop
Products
The 3D design
Why customers may like to buy in this shop and the slogan.
This final notes are for the teacher to assess the activity.
Students can do whatever they want to de their best. Therefore
