Zambo Norte gears up for Saulog 2016

DIPOLOG CITY, June 2 (PIA) The provincial government of Zamboanga
del Norte is gearing up for Saulog 2016 in celebration of its 64 th Foundation
Anniversary with various activities lined up from June 1 to June 6, 2016.
Saulog is a Visayan term which means celebration. This is mainly a
thanksgiving to God Almighty and not a festival as clarified by the provincial
government.
Commission on Audit (COA) Chairman Atty. Michael G. Aguinaldo was the
keynote speaker during the opening program held yesterday, June 1, 2016
at the Zamboanga del Norte National High School (ZNNHS) grounds.
After the program, a costume parade followed with street dancing at Dipolog
City Boulevard and fireworks display to make the night more festive and
colorful.
The Agri-Tourism, Industrial and Trade Fair was officially opened with the
participation of 23 local government units (LGUs) of Dipolog City, La
Libertad, Sibutad, Sergio Osmea, Roxas, Sindangan, Siayan, Salug, Liloy,
Tampilisan, Gutalac, Baliguian, Sirawai, Katipunan, Labason, Manukan,
Siocon, Jose Dalman, Polanco, Godod, Rizal, Mutia and Leon B. Postigo.
During the week-long celebration, there will be sports competition on the
deep sea fishing or jigathon, invitational offshore fishing, underwater
photography, inter-LGU basketball challenge, open beach volleyball, agegroup lawn tennis tournament, Gov. Berto Y. Uy Football Festival, frisbee
tournament, BMX or bicycle motocross challenge, sikad-sikad challenge and
boxing.
Moreover, there will be other contests such as the young corn and
watermelon eating, pinaka with the biggest and sweetest fruits, poster
making and TESDA Provincial Skills competition on body massage,
haircutting, manicure and pedicure.
The Saulog Queen competition will highlight the said celebration and gather
talented and beautiful ladies from different cities and municipalities of the
province come June 4.

On June 5, Halad Pasalamat parade and program will be conducted to give


praise and glory to the Lord Almighty for His continued outpouring blessings
to the province and its people in terms of fund assistance, projects, new
assets, good business, good health, peace and harmony.
Meanwhile, June 6, 2016 has been declared as Special (Non-Working) Day in
the province which marks its 64th Foundation Anniversary per Proclamation
No. 1262, s. 2016.
On that day, he South Border will perform at Saulog Main Stage, Dipolog
City Boulevard at 8:00 p.m. to entertain residents including local and
