NATIONAL LEAGUE FOR DEMOCRACY (Liberated Area) USA

Press Release

The NLD (LA) USA branch held its second biennial conference at Fort Wayne, Indiana attended by members of
NLD in the USA, NLD (LA) headquarters, and NLD (LA) Branch Offices, and allied organizations.

Representatives at the conference have made the following resolutions after discussion and analysis of Burma’s
current domestic and international situation and the political situation of the National League for Democracy
(NLD) and after future plans were laid down.

1. We support the call for the unconditional release of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all political prisoners; for the
reconsideration and amendment of the 2008 Constitutions in areas that are inconsistent to democratic
principles; for the recognition of the 1990 election results, which are the true desire of the people; and for the
continued support of the NLD’s political agenda stated in the “Shwegondine Declaration” that was based on the
1990 election.

2. To fully support the NLD decision of the March 29, 2010 NLD Central Executive Committee meeting where it was
unanimously decided that the NLD will not register as a political party because the SPDC Election Laws were
unjust.

3. To fully welcome and support the decision of Committee Representing Peoples’ parliament (CRPP) members
Shan National League for Democracy SNLD, Arakan League for Democracy ALD, Mon National Democratic Front
MNDF and Zomi National Congress ZNC not to register as a political party and to protest against the 2010
election.

4. To fully welcome the announcement by US senators on May 27 to continue their recognition of the legitimacy of
the NLD as a Political party.

Future plans based on the above resolutions were adopted and we commit to continue our struggle together with
the democratic forces all over the world for democracy and human rights.

Date: May 29, 2010 Executive Committee
