Morris welcomes The Lough Derg Rally to Dromineer

On Sunday I welcomed the I.W.A.I Lough Derg Rally to Dromineer. The rally had spent
a week in the Mid West region starting in Banagher on Saturday 10 th and Moving on to
Terryglass Garrykennedy before coming to Dromineer. They had on shore events in
each place ( from table quizzes sing songs dinner dances Fancy dress etc.)making the
best of the on shore facilities. This is their first visit to Dromineer for some time and
they were impressed with the general upkeep of the area and the facilities there. I
would like to thank the dedication and hard work of the council staff in Dromineer
Terryglass and Garrykennedy but I would like to appeal to dog owners who are bringing
their dogs for walks particularly in the Green areas that the mess they leave behind
has a detrimental affect on the families using the green areas and has to be cleaned
up by council staff. My initial meeting with the IW.A.I has pinpointed some issues that
need to be resolved to make Dromineer more usable for future Rallies. Some of the
issues are Better Phone reception, better broadband wifi reception, better access to
electricity points, a better contact with the local council, better use all the moorings,
better contact with Waterways Ireland and the need for better access to shops pubs
and restaurants in Nenagh. All of these items will be discussed in a meeting I have
sought with all the stakeholders of the Lake in the near future. It is hoped that
Dromineer will attract much more Rallies in the future as a result of better contact
