SPAIN

• First commercial solar power plant of Europe


set up in Spain that is “Planta Solar de
Salamanca”..
• One of the largest PV (photovoltaic) system in
the world having capacity of 13.8 megawatt
and it will meet the needs of 5000 houses..
Germany
• Perhaps not the sunniest place on the Earth but still
using solar energy.
• “Rote Jahne”,a project to provide electricity to about
1,900 houses..

United States
• Third largest solar power plant in Nevada having
capacity of 64 megawatts.
• Planning for another plant in California having
capacity of 500 megawatts.
India
• Solar plant in “Thar Desert” to generate 700 gegawatts
power.
• In July 2009, India unveiled a $19 billion plan, to produce 20
GW of solar power by 2020.

Pakistan
• A country having about 300 clear sunny days..
• Use of solar energy in parks like Khalid bin Waleed Park in
Peshawar and Race Course park Rawalpindi.
• German firm will build a solar power plant in Thathaa having
capacity of 50 MV.
