When Love’s Quest Dies

Ricardo Saul LaRosa

Blessed by love’s embrace,

Sanctified with the blood from our heart,
Lost in romance that leaves no trace,
Memories adrift in parting kisses’ art,

No more does this spirit desire love,

No more can this heart endure hurt,
Swords of deceit piercing a mourning dove,
Rest in peace, ashes to ashes, dirt to dirt,

Hearts aflame in love’s enchanting allure,

Uniting souls in love, but, at the wrong time,
A blinding sickness for which there is no cure,
Sadistic logic with no reason nor rhyme.

When love’s quest dies,

So does my spirit departing for seclusion,
A hurricane of bitter-sweet tears in our eyes,
A hauntingly prey to love’s sweet illusion,

In any tongue let it still be,

As when I once held you close to me,

Je t'aime,
Te amo,
I love you!

Mom amour !
¡Mi amor!
My love…

Pour toujours…
Para siempre…
Forevermore…
