CORPORATE POLICY MANUAL

TITLE: FORMS & REPORTS DIVISION: Rooms-Health Club

No: 2 – Assault Report CROSS REF. (Policy #):
PREPARED BY: Joseph Patrick Utanes – Health No. of Pages: 1
Club Manager
APPROVED BY: General Manager Desmond Hatton
DISTRIBUTED TO: General Manager, Resident Manager, EAM-Rooms, Security
Director, and all Health Club Staff

It is a policy of Shangri-La’s Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa to use the “Assault
Report” form to record any assault incidents.

An assault (threatening a person with physical harm or touching the person

without his or her consent), may give rise to civil liability. Since these are
international acts, the principles of negligence are not involved. If a lifeguard/pool
attendant threatens or strikes a patron or a fellow lifeguard/pool attendant and
causes damage, both criminal charges and a civil lawsuit can result.
The implication of assault for first aid is less obvious. Before rendering first aid,
lifeguards/pool attendants must identify themselves and ask the individual’s
permission. In life-threatening emergencies the lifeguard/pool attendant should
assume consent. The consequences of acting to save an individual are not likely
to result in harm and a lawsuit.

It is compulsory to fill-in properly the report by answering all questions.

It is compulsory to copy this report to the Security Manager of the Resort within
the end of the day the incident occurred.
It is compulsory to keep and file the recorder reports for 25 years.
