Designation : Intern
Duration : February 2007 – June 2007
Project handled : Shock strut assembly

Project Responsibility:
• Modeling of shock strut assembly
• Analysis of shock strut cylinder using Ansys package and verified
theoretically.
• DMU Simulation of shock strut assembly by using Catia v5.
STARTED MY CAREER
Designation Design Engineer

Organization: Aircraft Design and Engineering Services Pvt. Ltd. (ADES),

C-CADD (NAL)
Deputed to National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL)

Presently working on NM5-100

ABOUT NM5-100
• NM5 is the mono turboprop, unpressured light transport aircraft.

• Used for executive transport , light package carrier and air

ambulance
• The present objective is to produce a certified design &
development of NM5-100 aircraft in co-ordination with Mahindra
Aerospace Pvt Ltd.
• This project is metallic aircraft to be designed and developed
by NAL and MAHINDRA AEROSPACE PVT LTD.
SKILL SETS

parts
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Preparation of Preliminary layouts for Structural and flight controls.

• Responsible for delivery of assembly and part drawings for fabrication

and assembly divisions.
• Modeling of aircraft parts by using CATIA V5 R17 and analyzing
clashes between assembled part.
• Preparation of Bill of materials, weight calculations and change notice.

• Coordinating with different departments such as Stress, Aerodynamics,

Power Plant and Avionics groups.
CONTRIBUTIONS

1. Structural Design work done in Fuselage.

2. Flight control system Design.

1.STRUCTURAL DESIGN WORK DONE IN
FUSELAGE.

• 3D modeling and detail drawing of cargo door ,pilot boarding step, stringer and

skin assembly

• Design of reinforcements for flight control attachment brackets in bulkhead.

• Design of rudder pedal reinforcement is carried out on the floor of cockpit.

• Concept design of automatic foldable step incorporated in cargo door.

• Fitting calculations for various attachment points such as bracket and clips.

• Involved in preparation of material schedule, weight calculation and

change notices .
2. FLIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM DESIGN.
• Rigging of control surfaces of aileron, elevator and rudder are adjusted to the
required angle as per aerodynamic requirements by DMU Kinematic
workbench.
• Flap load was reduced to match the standard actuator by using leverages
• Entire flight control system is designed by theoretical calculation by using
strength of material approach as per FAR PART 23.
• All flight control members are checked for columnar buckling, bending, and
shear failures are carried out by hand calculations.
• Also involved in digital mockup of entire flight control system (start from
scratch) for space availability, 3D visualization and C.G calculations.
ACHIEVEMENTS
• 3D modeling of cargo door, pilot boarding step, skin and stringer assembly in
fuselage.

• 3D modeling and Rigging of entire flight control system is carried out by

using DMU Kinematic workbench in Catia V5 for digital mockup and 3D
space visualization.

• Kinematics of Automatic folding step mechanism for cargo door.

• Flight control system’s attachment brackets and reinforcements to the

bulkhead are checked by hand calculations (by strength of materials approach).

• Saving weight of 3.2 kg by adopting new design in aileron control system.

• Flap load was reduced to match the standard actuator by using leverages.
