Note: An accessory materials fee of $5.00 will be collected by the instructor at the first class.

Materials and Supplies List


* 2 ply Bristol Paper, Vellum finish (NOT plate finish) Other papers and possible supports will
be discussed in class, such as scratchboard paper and smooth clayboard

* Wolff’s Carbon Pencils: B, 2B, 4B, 6B (at least 2 of the 6B carbon pencils)

* Paint Brushes: Sizes 2 and 8 synthetic watercolor brushes, filbert or flat shape

* Drawing Pencils: 2H, HB, 2B (examples: Berol Turquoise, Derwent, Staedtler)

* Pencil Sharpener: battery operated or small hand operated

* Erasers: 1. Kneaded eraser (gray), 2. White eraser such as plastic or nylon

* Sketch Pad: 9 x 12 (or larger) white drawing or sketch pad (example: Strathmore 400 Sketch,
Canson Recycled Drawing, NOT newsprint)

* Rags: Such as paper towels, small pieces of white cotton T-shirts, Chamois or flannel cloth

Tracing Paper: 9 x 12 pad or roll

Fixative: A can of spray-on Workable Fixative, OR alcohol spray systems (atomizers) will be
discussed in first class as an alternative

* Bring to first class

Class supplies are available at


local art stupply stores: Meininger’s, Kozo’s, Guiry’s, Jerry’s Artarama or through online
art suppliers: Dick Blick, Cheap Joe’s, Jerry’s Artarama, etc.

Kozo Fine Art materials (10 E. Ellsworth Ave, Denver) has a 20% discount for Botanical
Illustration Program participants with proof of registration. Bring your registration confirmation
letter from the Botanic Gardens.
