Structural Certification of the 5 Floors Office Building situated in HBR

layout
Bangalore.

Scope of Services:

To analyze the structure as per IS Codes and check the designs & detailing
implemented in the structure.  

Background Information:

G4S requested us (KRSNA Service Consultants ) to provide the structural

certification
for their 5 Floors Office Building situated at HBR layout. Also G4S as
supplied
• Architectural drawing
• Structural drawing
• Soil report
 Investigation:

Based on the above inputs the structural analysis was carried out in
accordance with the IS Codes: IS 456, SP16, IS 13920, IS 875, IS 1893.
The structural model was prepared and was analyzed for Dead loads,
Live loads, Seismic loads.

Basic Load Combinations:

Eighteen load combinations per IS Codes were considered for each of

the four load cases as follows:

• DL = dead load
• LL=Live Load
• EQ = earthquake load

 Results:
By referring to the analysis and structural drawings the following
observations are made
All the footing except Grid 2 -B is found to be safe.
All the columns except few columns in the 3 rd and 4th Floors are
found to be under reinforced i.e., unsafe.
All the slabs are safe to carry commercial (office) loads. · All the
beams are found to safe except B10 and B5 are under reinforced.
The staircase reinforcement is found to be satisfactory.

Summary:

  Overall the Columns in the structure are found to be under

reinforced, also the footings, slabs, beams and staircase can carry
commercial loads . Since the Column being the main member which
transfers the loads from Beams to Footing it as to strengthened on the
priority basis.
