Grade 2 English: 1st Semester Project

Please Note: This is an assessed piece of work. The completion and handing in on time of this
homework will contribute towards your son’s midyear report card mark.

Write a Letter

Last week we read about a boy called Juno who likes to write and receive letters. Your project is to
write a letter to a boy from a school in England. Tell them who you are, about yourself, and what
you like to do. You also need to draw a picture to give your new friend an image of your life. Lastly,
you have to include a small item that means something about you.

Please include the following things in your envelope:

1) a handwritten letter from you to your new friend (telling him more about you in your best
handwriting, be very careful not to make any spelling or grammar mistakes)

2) a drawing (that gives your new friend a picture of your life, it maybe a picture of your house,
school, or anything that tells about you)

3) a small item (maybe a photo, a leaf, or even a small toy, something that says something about
you)

Please note: We would like to this to be the student’s own work. Students will be guided and
supervised at school this week during two ‘project sessions’. Some students may require a little
home assistance and help but it should not be done entirely by an adult. We want the students to
do this by themselves as much as is possible. Marks will be deducted if it is clear that the project
was made by someone other than the child himself.
