This year the Mehmet Niyaziy Prize for

literature has been awarded to the well-
known Crimean Tatar poet and writer
Nevzat Yusuf Sarîgól.

The 2010 Mehmet Niyaziy prize for literature
has gone to Nevzat Yusuf Sarîgól, retired
professor of Turkish at Bucharest University.
Although most of his works in the fields of
literature and linguistics are in Romanian and Turkish
language, Nevzat Yusuf Sarîgól also published prose and
poetry in Crimean Tatar language. His most significant contribution
to Crimean Tatar culture is the poetry book "Tabanîma gómelek ğaktîm" –
"I anointed my feet with butterfly".
The organisers didn't disclose the exact value of the prize being offered.
