Congratulations! You have been hired to create a political cartoon for the London Times
endorsing or criticizing a current political theory. You may draw your political cartoon to
argue:
• For/Against Capitalism
• For/Against Socialism
• For/Against Communism
Then, the London Times wants you to write one or two paragraphs explaining the message
of your political cartoon and arguing in favor of one of the economic systems we discussed.

Example:

The message of my political cartoon is that

capitalism crushes the worker, or as I labeled
him, “labor”. The man wearing a slash in the
middle that says capitalism if a factory owner.
Money drips off him, as you can see he has a
shiny medallion and dollars pinned to his
chest. The clothes he wears are exotic and
well-made. Some people who endorsed
capitalism would use this factory owner to
show how successful capitalism was; but I
have turned this on its head. Yes, capitalism
provides fabulous wealth for some, but for
others is brings them great poverty. When we
let people become superrich, they become
corrupted by total power. Clearly, this man is
not rich because he is innovative, but because
he has “grinded the bones” of the working
man. He has gotten profits not from a
successful business, but by using child labor
and saving money by keeping terrible factory
conditions. Clearly, the fat profiteer is not
good for society.
Communism would change this situation. As
the government controls everything, it would
redistribute wealth so that everyone is equal
and no one is superrich. This ensures that
there is not mistreatment between worker and
owner because the government of the people
owns everything. We need communism to
stop this inequality!
