Conclusion from focus group

From the focus group I can identify that the male participators were very much
horror fans rather than the female who was in the group. They show a passion
for horror films, where as Jess showed a strong dislike for the genre.
We can draw the idea that from the focus group, mostly the gore, explicit films
within horror, the overt horror that is in films are the ones they talk about. For
instance, Saw and Final Destination are mentioned, however they point out
that they feel that Final Destination was slightly a flop in their opinion.
Another point that I picked up on is that they positively highlight Saw and
negatively highlighted Wrong Turn. Two very different films, one on
psychological, overt gore and the other on the overt gore experimenting with
the supernatural genre within monsters. This is element I see with my
audience is that they do like gorey films however they watch the ones that
have truth to them or are very realistic.

So support for my product is relying on the fact the overt gore is what the
prime audience wants, however they want the realism too.
This is where the false document method is highlighted in the creation of my
product and is very much proved as a success from this focus group.
The reliable responses and the want and needs from the audience shows using
this technique would bring in my targeted audience of 17 – 23 years old.

What I feel I will include in the creation of my teaser – to be successful:

 Chilling Music/ sound effects (jeepers creepers)
 False document method (The Blair Witch Project)
 No monsters/ supernatural being (Wrong Turn)
 Over t gore – similar to Saw
 No unrealistic action or over the top gore (final destination)
