the challenge?

Helping young people into employment.

Transitions into adulthood are often difficult for young people, particularly those not
in education, employment or training. And right now things have got harder than they
have been for any other recent generation.

While university is an aspiration for some, there needs to be sufficient alternative path-
ways for young people to move into employment, training and life.   The question is how
can digital be used to help young people gain experience, move beyond a restricted
world of opportunities or connect with people who can propel them into greatness.

The DotGovLabs Innovation Hub is a website that brings innovators, investors, users,
charities, private organisations and people in the street together with government to find
digital solutions to social challenges. It’s a space where people can explore possibilities,
find other like minded people, work as a team to solve a problem and where their voice,
contribution and talent will be recognised. And it’s a place that needs more young in-
novators showing government what to do. So if you have an idea about how digital can
help young people into employment then this is what you do:
1. Register for the site by mailing dgl.hub@directgov.gsi.gov.uk

2. When you get your login go to www.direct.gov.uk/innovationhub. Look around

and post your solution. Other members can then see it and if they like it comment.

3. Then be part of the community, vote on other solutions, invite others, contribute to
solutions and watch yourself earn badges and move up the leader board.

4. Have fun; just do as much or as little as you want. It’s your call but we hope you’ll
like it and keep coming back.
