A SYNOPSIS ON THE RESEARCH PROJECT

TITLE: EFFECTIVENESS OF RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION PROCEDURE


COAL INDIA LIMITED, KOLKATA

Research Idea:
Analysis of recruitment and selection process at Coal India Limited.

Research Objectives:
 Identify general practices that CIL uses to recruit and select employees.
 Determine which recruitment and selection practices are most effective.
 Determine how the recruitment and selection practices affects CILs outcomes.
Introduction:
Coal India Limited (CIL) is a “Maharatna” Public Sector Undertaking(PSU), under ministry
of coal, government of India. It has nine direct and two indirect subsidiaries. It has a well
dedicated Human Resource Department that performs multiple functions like Recruitment
and selection, Training and development, Career growth etc for the company as well as for its
subsidiaries.
This research project aims to analyse the various recruitment and selection process employed
at CIL, and to measure the effectiveness of the same.

Research Methodology:
Research approach: Exploratory.
Research Design: Descriptive research design.
Sampling Technique: Non-probabilistic (purposive or convenience).
Research Tool/Instrument: Questionnaire and Interviews.
Sample Size: 100.
