• At the start-of-shift Toolbox Talk, the Site Supervisor will instruct the crew on safety
with particular attention to procedures in the event of an incident
• The work area will be demarcated by “no entry” signs and no unauthorised persons are
to enter the safe working area
• The Site Supervisor and Subordinate Site Supervisor will be equipped with whistles
• In the event of an incident, one of them will blow the whistle and all employees will
immediately stop working and stand still
• The sound of the whistle will be the instruction to the designated boom lift operator to
immediately move to his machine and move it into position at the scene
• The sound of the whistle will be the instruction to the First Aider to immediately call the
paramedics on XXXXX
• After calling the paramedics, the First Aider will take his First Aid box and run to the
scene of the incident.
• Within 5 minutes the injured employee must be on the ground and receiving First Aid
treatment
o An employee who has fallen from the structure and been suspended by his
safety harness must not be placed directly onto the ground with his legs straight.
o He must maintain a “reclined sitting” position – on the ground with his knees drawn
up to his chest – until the paramedics arrive

o An employee who has fallen from the structure and been suspended upside
down by his safety harness must not be placed in the “reclined” sitting position
o He must be laid flat on the ground until the paramedics arrive
• Once the employee is stable, he is to be transported to the closest medical facility for
further treatment.
• An Incident Investigation will be undertaken by the Contractor and a report submitted to
the Principal Contractor / Client
