Intent: To establish the minimum level of energy efficiency for the proposed building and systems to reduce environmental and economic impacts associated with excessive energy use.

Prerequisite 2: Minimum Energy Performance
OPTION 1: WHOLE ENERGY BUILDING SIMULATION  Any building type  Comply with mandatory provisions (ASHRAE 90.1-2007)  Demonstrate energy cost 10% lower than baseline energy simulation (also per ASHRAE 90.1-2007)

Intent: To reduce stratospheric ozone depletion. Requirements:
 Zero CFCs in New Buildings  Phase out CFCs in Existing Buildings
* Phase-out plans extending beyond the project completion date will be considered on their merits.

Intent: To encourage and recognize increasing levels of onsite renewable energy self-supply to reduce environmental and economic impacts associated with fossil fuel energy use.

Credit 3: Enhanced Commissioning (2 pts)
In addition to prerequisite commissioning (EAp1):  Designate CxA (commissioning authority) to lead/review/oversee completion of all commissioning process activities  CxA must review OPR (Owners Projects Requirements), BOD (Basis of Design), and Design Documents prior to 50% CD.  CxA shall review submittals for compliance with OPR and BOD.  Develop a Systems Manual for operating staff  Verify that requirements for training & staff are completed  Review building operation 8-10 months after completion

Credit 4: Enhanced Refrigerant Management (2 pts)
OPTION 1: DO NOT USE REFRIGERANTS. This only works if there are no mechanical cooling or refrigeration systems in the building.

OPTION 2: Minimize Emissions  Identify the refrigerants used in the selected HVAC&R equipment  Calculate ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) and GWP (Global Warming Potential) for HVAC&R in LEED online.

Credit 5: Measurement & Verification (3 pts)
Intent: To provide for the ongoing accountability of building energy consumption over time.

OPTION 1: Develop and implement a measurement and verification (M&V) plan consistent with Option D: Calibrated Simulation (Savings Estimation Method 2) as specified in the International Performance Measurement & Verification Protocol (IPMVP) Volume III: Concepts and Options for Determining Energy Savings in New Construction, April 2003. The M&V period must cover at least 1 year of post-construction occupancy.

Credit 5: Measurement & Verification (3 pts)
STRATEGIES:  Develop an M&V plan to evaluate building and/or energy system performance.  Characterize the building and/or energy systems through energy simulation or engineering analysis.  Install the necessary metering equipment to measure energy use.  Track performance by comparing predicted performance to actual performance.  Evaluate energy efficiency by comparing actual performance to baseline performance.

Credit 6: Green Power (2 pts)

Intent: To encourage the development and use of gridsource, renewable energy technologies on a net zero pollution basis.
