    Films first arrived in India in the year 1896,

    when the Lumire Brothers' Cinematography unveiled soundless short films in Bombay. This was just one year after the Lumire brothers

    had set up their company in Paris.


    India's first feature film named "King

    Harishchandra" was released in 1913. It was made by Dhundiraj Govind. This was a silent movie.
