Moving from one point to another is in the essence of the human beings and because of that, transportation vehicles have been very important in human history. People have used a variety of transportation vehicles, from animals like horses, camels and elephants to trains, ships, bicycles, automobiles or airplains. Thinking in the effect of modern world, I belive that airplanes have change people's life in a way that no other vehicle did before. Mainly because airplanes have connectedthe world by reducing the travel time and the travel cost between different places. First of all, before the airplanes where invented, people travel around the world mainly by ships, or by automobiles. To travel from one city to another took a long time, but afther the airplanes where invented the time to travel between the same cities was reduced. As an example, last weekend I went to Puerto Varas, a city in the south of Chile,which is ten hours away from Santiago (where I live) if you go by an automobile, but if you go by an airplane is just an hour and fourty five minutes away. I could not visit Puerto Varas for the weekend without an airplane. Second of all, airplanes have reduced the travel cost between two places. Comparing the travel cost of diferent transportation vehicles, airplanes are more cost effective than others, specially in long distance routes. As an example, for me, to travel by an automobile to Puerto Varas was more expensive than to travel by an airplane. Actually, it was one thirth more expensive. In conclusion, I think airplanes have change people's lives because, they have reduce travel time and travel cost, and by that, airplanes are playing a very important role in connecting the world, connecting different people from different countries and cultures.
