Addition of sulbactam increases resistance to betalactamase, enzymes produced by bacteria that may inactivate ampicillin. INDICATIONS Treatment for infections CONTRAINDICATIONS The use of Unasyn is contraindicated in individuals with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to any of the penicillins.
