Why is PDHPE important in Primary Schools?


PDHPE assists with holistic development including mental, intellectual and physical development. The NSW PDHPE syllabus states that PDHPE is a key learning area as it: Encourages an understanding and valuing of self and others. Promotes physical activity And emphasises informed decision making leading to effective and responsible action.

Personal Health and Development.


PDH focuses on 4 main subject matters: 1. Growth and Development 2. Interpersonal Relationships 3. Personal Health Choices 4. Safe Living. Within these subjects we will explore such topics as personal identity, relationships, nutrition and road safety.

Physical Education. PE focuses on the remaining 4 subject matters of the PDHPE syllabus: 1. Active Lifestyle 2. Dance 3. Games and Sport 4. Gymnastics Within these subjects we endeavour to develop the 12 fundamental movement skills being: Static Balance Vertical Jump Sprint Run Catch Skip Hop Side Gallop Leap Overarm Throw Kick 2 Hand Strike Dodge
