Our Busy Summer...

We were in the Mount Carroll 4th of July Celebration Parade Our marchers were Les Mitchell, Rita Mitchell, Karen Bazilewich, Erika Tubbs, Manuela Sander, Dane Kadow and Greg Bazilewich our film crew of one. Canine particpants were: Brodie James, Nala Sue and Lacie. AND, special THANKS to the big red truck!!!!

We had an informative booth at the Carroll County Fair, offering pet information, books and a silent auction of many wonderful gift baskets, thank-you to all who bid.

And of course. TAG DAY! We collected enough money in Thomson to fund EIGHT spay/ neuter surgeries YEA! NEXT: Shop with us at JUNK-IN-THETRUNK Sat. October 8th in the Pamida parking lot In Savanna!

The mission of our society shall be to promote responsible pet ownership through public education, to support spay/ neuter services to reduce pet overpopulation, as well as placement assistance for homeless companion animals. We are dedicated to protecting animals by ensuring that their needs are recognized and that they are safeguarded against cruelty, neglect, abuse and exploitation. We believe that companion animals deserve the opportunity to be adopted into a caring and loving home. Our society is committed to a No Kill philosophy whereby animal euthanasia shall not be performed except in those cases of terminal illness, suffering, serious injury, and/or dangerous or irreversible behavior problems subject to the policies adopted by the society or by the order of any court.

Here is Benny, just finishing his check-up at Mount Carroll Veterinary Clinic, and apparently, ready to go. Benny is an orange and white long haired male cat, he was found as a kitten about 6-8 weeks old. The HSCC helped find him a wonderful home where he is much loved, and enjoyed by many !

...a Note from Erika...

ATTENTION! ATTENTION! Are you looking for something to do with your day? Do you have extra time to spare? How would you like to help the Humane Society of Carroll County by volunteering? Carroll County seems to have more pets than we can financially take care of. The sad truth is there just arent enough homes for all of them. The HSCC is trying to help the county control the pet population. But as a non-profit organization we need help. There are several organizations in the county and they are all trying to accomplish the same thing. That is to spay/neuter as many pets/strays as possible to keep the evergrowing population down. Did you know in just 7 years a non-spayed female cat and her offspring could potentially produce 420,000 kittens? Did you know a non-spayed female dog and her offspring could potentially produce 67,000 puppies in just 6 years? These numbers are horrifying when you think about it. The HSCC would love for you to help us deal with this ongoing problem. There are many ways to get involved and help the people and animals of Carroll County. Some of the things the HSCC is involved in include fundraisers, Responsible Pet Ownership Program for children, helping with Trap/Neuter/Release of feral cats, helping with spay/neuter of Carroll County animals, and the education to the public about pet wellness and safety. If you are able to help with Tag Days or craft fairs, that would be wonderful. We would also love to hear your ideas if you are able to join us at one of our monthly meetings. The HSCC meets every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7pm at Mmm Pizza Ranch Oct 10 the Mt Carroll City Hall. Stop by and see what all the excitement is about! Now, for those of you who arent able to come to meetings or volunteer, but still want to be a part of this wonderful organization please sign up to become a member. By doing so you will receive our quarterly newsletters and know that you helped the animals of your county. To become a member, we ask that you donate a yearly fee of $15 per person or $25 per family. There are other options which include sponsoring a spay/neuter which you could do monthly, yearly, or when you have the extra money. If you would like to become a member, volunteer, or get more information about the Humane Society Of Carroll County, please contact us by calling and leaving a voice message at (815)273-5331. The Humane Society of Carroll County would like you to know that we very much appreciate everyone who supports us. Whether you are donating your time or money, we appreciate all the help you give us. Also we would like you to know that since all of our support comes from Carroll County, all of our veterinarian bills and supplies we have to purchase is done in Carroll County.
