Classroom News Language Arts We are going to take the next 2 weeks to review short vowels and get the pattern of short vowels mastered. We will not be working in our reading books for the next 2 weeks, but please remember to look in the front of the planner for any little extra books they are to read!!! Math We will be working on writing numbers to 100, adding numbers together, and subtracting. We still are doing lots of counting, before and after numbers, counting by 5s and 10s. Students need to be able to count backwards from 20. We are also practicing lots of addition and subtraction up to 18. I have taught them different strategies to use with adding and subtracting. They can use their fingers, mental math (put the number in your head and count up or count back), number lines, and pictures. I taught them doubles facts last week: 1+1=2, 2+2=4, 3+3=6, etc. This week I will add how to add 10 to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Science- We will continue our unit on animals and their habitats. This week we will focus on Nocturnal Animals. Students have to pass 2 AR tests this week to be eligible for LUNCH BUNCH! Homework will be on an individual basis. Any books they are to read will be in the planner.

Students are to pick 5 words to write sentences with this week. Turn in by Friday.
