Marijuana (spelled marihuana), also known as cannabis, pot and weed is a preparation of the cannabis plant intended for use as a psychoactive drug or for medical purposes. The active psychoactive substance is tetrahydrocannabinol ( abbreviated as THC).

Cannabis is indigenous to Central and South Asia. Evidence of its use comes as far as the 3rd millennium BC. It was know to be used by shamans, priests and other people in religious ceremonies. They believed that the plant was a way to reach their gods.

Marijuana is generally found in its raw brute form as leaves. Another form is hashish (also known as chocolate), which is obtained by the concentrated resin produced from the flowers of the female cannabis plant.

Except from its recreational use, marijuana is well known for its medical uses. -It stimulates appetite and alleviate cachexia. -It control nausea and vomiting associated with cancer chemotherapy. -Decreases intraocular pressure. -Used as an analgesic -Stress reliever It is used also in the treatment of neurological and movement disorders. Also it is scientifically proven that THC attacks the cancerous cells of the human body.

It is well know that marijuana is legal in Nederland, and sold in so called coffee shops. It is also legal in California for its medicinal uses. For the rest of the world, possessing a marijuana plant or its preparations is strictly illegal and punished by the law.
