up hours of their spare time each week collecting rare in 2004
soul records and playing soul music for charity YKSoul
events.

charities.

Fellow charity group organiser Roisheen Childs wrote in to The Press, nominating
YKSoul for the Charity Fundraiser Of The Year category in our Community Pride

Roisheen herself is no stranger to our celebrations. She was a worthy contender for
the Person Of The Year Award in 2007.

Ms Childs, 50, is a coordinator at Older Citizens Advocacy York (OCAY), which

provides a support service for older people.

Now Ms Childs says YKSoul deserves an award.

She said: "They are an amazing group of dedicated individuals with a collective
passion for soul music.

and Simon Wragg give their precious time to the group on a
regular basis.

concerned who organise and advertise the venue and YKSoul
provide the rest."

In November last year, YKSoul helped OCAY raise more than

£1,600.

Ms Childs said: "YKSoul are local people utilising local facilities, Roisheen Childs
providing a fantastic night's entertainment for local people and nominated the
raising much needed funds for charity. group for our
