Matter Has Mass And Occupies Space

1. All living and non-living things on Earth are made up of matter. 2. Example of matter are air, soil, and plants. All living and non-living things which are made up of matter have mass and occupy space.

State Of Matter
1. Matter exists in three states; solid, liquid and gaseous state. 2. Matter is made up of small particles called atoms or molecules. 3. Matter exists in either a solid, liquid or gaseous

-Particle in a solid only vibrate in their positions and do not move freely.

-Particles in a liquid move randomly in groups, sometimes colliding with one another.

-Particles in gas move fast and randomly and often collide with one another.

DENSITY OF MATTER
1. Density is defined as the mass per unit volume of a substance. 2. The unit of density is g per cm (g/cm) or gram per cubic centimeter. 3. Density can be calculated using the formula shown below.

DENSITY= MASS OF SUBSTANCE (g) Volume of substance (cm)

-Less dense solid will float on top of denser one. -Less dense liquid will float on liquid that are denser.
