reproouctlons wlll be workeo on ln art class wltb Mr. Sbrom. *Stuoents are tree to
collect lntormatlon at bome, but tbe note taklng ano researcb wlll be oone ln tbe
classroom tor tbe artlst project.
We are plannlng a graoe trlp to tbe Ltbnologlcal Museum ln Dablem to see some
art tbat ls not typlcal ot tbe area. Hopetully you wlll bave tbe opportunlty over tbe
break to vlslt an art museum wberever you are. We woulo love to glve tlme ln
class tor stuoents to sbare tbelr eperlences ano a postcaro or two.

Language arts wlll be tleo lnto our unlt tbls week. We wlll be worklng on skllls
necessary tor successtul researcb, sucb as maln loeas, oetalls, unnecessary
lntormatlon, plaglarlsm, ano key woros.
Matb Tbls week we wlll look at patterns ln qullts ano even make our own oeslgns. Tbls
allows us to look at sbape transtormatlons, sucb as slloes, tllps, ano turns. We are
looklng at ways to create sbapes trom otber sbapes. We wlll also work wltb
pattern blocks ano eplore symmetry.

step ls to learn bow to use a proportion grid to transter tbe orlglnal lmage to a
plece ot paper. | wlll also be meetlng wltb eacb cbllo to oecloe wbat materlals to
use ln oroer to complete tbelr artwork. Lacb plece wlll be approacbeo oltterently.
Durlng tbls process ot reproouclng a plece ot artwork, stuoents wlll be
encourageo to make tbelr own artlstlc cbolces ln oroer to make tbelr artwork
tbelr own.
Part ot tbls project ls also to learn tbat artlstlc mlstakes can leao to orlglnallty ano
tbat many tamous artlsts bave maoe mlstakes or unplanneo oeclslons wblcb enoeo
up reveallng new artlstlc loeas or styles.
