Statistics - Collection of methods for planning experiments, obtaining data, and then organizing, summarizing, presenting, analyzing, interpreting,

and drawing conclusions. Variable - Characteristic or attribute that can assume different values Population - is the group that you want to nd out about from your data. Population - All subjects possessing a common characteristic that is being studied. Sample - If your data represents only a portion of the population Sample - A subgroup or subset of the population. Data - are numbers with a context. Ungrouped Data Data that has not been organized into groups. Random Sampling Sampling in which the data is collected using chance methods or random numbers. Class boundaries are the numbers that separate the classes without forming gaps between them. class frequency - is the number of data points that fall inside the class interval. Class interval - the range of each class of data, used when arranging large amounts of raw data into grouped data. Class Mark (Midpoint) The number in the middle of the class. It is found by adding the upper and lower limits and dividing by two. It can also be found by adding the upper and lower boundaries and dividing by two. Class Size (class width) - is the distance between lower (or upper) limits of consecutive classes.
