Scott Leys, Principal of HLPS Po Box 1600, High Level AB, T0H 1Z0 Dear Mr. S Leys, Recently I have noticed that High Level Public School does not have a music program available for Jr.high students. Therefore I conducted a survey to identify if the grade's 6-9 would like to have a music program for Jr.High next year. I chose a sample of students (chosen randomely) from grades 6-9 (Graphs:1,2 & 3) and handed out surveys for them to fill out. My conclusions came to that approximetely 75% of girls( Graph 4) and little over 75% of boys(graph 5) in Jr.High would like a music program brought back for them to learn and enjoy. I also asked what kind of program your students would prefer. The results I recieved were that High Level Public School should bring back either a guitar, band or choir program. 17 of the girls and 11 of the boys I surveyed declaired they would want a guitar class brought to HLPS. 9 girls and 10 boys answered that they would want a band class, But 17 girls and only 3 boys said they would prefer a choir or singing class. I also had 6 people say they wanted music theory classes (Graphs: 6 & 7). Thank you for considering my thoughts and i'm sure you will take everything I have said into consideration. I hope you will think about my conclusions and make a decison for the year to come.
