The suffering of the people doesn't necessarily mean that the people lacked faith. Their suffering was a consequence of irresponsibility. It may be a result of poor leadership or poor cooperation. The government, as they say, "looks out for the welfare of its citizens" but I think they're looking out for their glamorous Chanel wallet. The money in the economy circulates from the people to the government and business sectors, and back to the people for wages and salaries, and offering more opportunities for every citizen, making a better society. Now, if a corruption takes place, the rest will be affected. It will leave everything slowly falling into the pit. And so, the era of government "looking out for the welfare of its citizens" has evolved to an era of government "faltering the welfare of its citizens". There is really nothing wrong with the faith of the Filipino Catholics. In fact, the Church does its obligations. The people in need, the Church helps them, feeds them. Unfortunately, due to limited resources, it is not enough to all those people in need. Some people organize activities in their vicinity to help their fellows in need. Others use the media to summon the people of what clearly is happening on the real world. A poor country was just a result of greed and ignorance of man. It is greed because man wants to have everything, never wants to be left behind, so he gears up from the comfort zone to the luxury zone. Lastly, it is ignorance because man doesn't really understand the phrase, "one must be held accountable for his/her actions". It's like, it should always be about himself, but, naturally, everything has a consequence. We have gone down so deep which may take a long time for us to recover from faulty mistakes.
