3. Special Guest- Jeff Kent Former PNBOA state official. PNBOA observer. D-I in the Mountain West and WAC Pregame- Getting your plays right. #1 objective getting those plays right. Talk about teams, records, style, coaches and players. Perfect execution of the points of emphasis. Execute the Contract. (verbal contract between partners) Be good for 32 minutes, not just the first 4 minutes of the game or the first minutes of the second half or down the stretch. Great E.C.O.A. camp here in June each year. Let your crew know if you have strayed from the contract. How do we get our plays right? 1. Stay in your primary 2. Referee the defense. Took Jeff six years to learn that. 3. Know the points of emphasis

4.

Know the rule changes.

Concept: 2 and Through = Did they stop short of verticality and then go thru? If yes a foul. If no, no foul. It is important to get plays right. #1 way to mange coaches and players is getting plays right. Getting plays right gets you to the next level Jeff Q & A: When you Kick a play, how do you get through it? Sense of humor. Acknowledge the error with self, crew and maybe if appropriate the coach once. Jeff said he did that to a coach and the coach said, Your dam right you did Proceed with caution. Do you have a tip to keep on focus? When the ball is dead you need to stay alive. The incident could merge back into the next live ball. Dont get distracted. Communicate with partners. Visually & verbally What happens when a partner does not buy into the Contract Jeff says, I am confused about what your concern is. Provide an example or reference the rule. 4. Evaluations- Doug Andy Andy acknowledged the Ad Hoc Committee for their work. No evaluation system can ever take out all the subjectivity, but we do our best to make the system fair for all. Andy discussed the new form. Observers will now have to give a range score on site. It was recommended that the varsity crew have a discussion so there is not a top box checked from 2 members and the bottom for the other. That can happen though, because there is a wide range of experience in the officials. The question was raise about having a new varsity official evaluate right out of the box with no training. That issue was not resolved by the Ad Hoc, but acknowledged. John suggests the new observers sit with the veterans and have some real good on job training. Concern brought forth about having the first 8 different observation count for the JV official. What if the JV official had their best games after that? The concern was brought to the committee that guys with tons of games were getting an advantage over officials that could only be observed 10-15 games. This was noted by Andy. Doug went over the highlights of the 2001-11 evaluation changes. There is only one manual and it is online. The 2010-11 changes were made available to members on site. All concerns with the system as we all adapt to it should be addressed to Doug 5. Rec Ball- Drew No jewelry by players or officials.

Clean up the rough play. Early and Often is the Mantra. If we do a great job we will not lose leagues to out of area officials and under cutters. From Leslie: Dont be so restrictive in your availability. E.g. 8am-1pm and 59pm. The system may not let you be assigned. Leslie knows what you have done and can do. Believe in her and open up your blocks. Confirm with partner. Date, Time & Location. Get an e-mail? Send one back. Shorts is the rec default uniform. If you want pants confirm with partner. Strips are also the default shirt. 6. Secretary Rodney- WOA passes were distributed. There will be another round for state basketball later in the season. Mr. Thornley thanks Kevin Chinn for proposing getting cards out early so members could go to football and basketball. Minutes are always posted on line for board and general meetings. Board meeting minutes have to be approved before posting and are usually being one board meeting. 7.
